Ratings & Comments(Average:3.0)

3 - OK addition to the Guild 2
Not too much to say it adds a few things but the gameplay and graphics are the same. Recommended if you can get it cheap just for the additions and new storyline.
3 - Very buggy and very addictive. Beware Vista users!
Having played Guild 2 for a while, I was eager to get ahold of the expansion. The expansion is stand alone, btw, you dont need the original game to play it. I think I'll go for a list format for this review as I have reviewed the original game already:

What I like about the addon/game:

- Addictive open-ended gameplay. A sandbox mode you can play forever if you want.

- The music is excellent. Real 'put it on your mp3 player' stuff.

- The voice acting ranges from passible to good and amusing. Better than most games I've played but still has some downsides. Overall good.
- Graphically pleasant.

- Good humor throughtout the game without being cheesy, over the top. I dont know how immersive the game is but it sticks to the story matter and you see very few anachronisms or modern 'pop' references. I think there's a couple of throaway references to some recent movies and events but they are unobtrusive and amusingly handled.

What I dont like about the addon/game

- Less than intuative interface. Its often frustrating to control and move your units. Sometimes a left click will move them, sometimes a right click will and it isn't always clear when to do what. It is difficult to know when you have a unit selected to move.

- Unintuative gameplay. The tutorial covers nothing and the manual even less. What you might take for bugs in the game are often limits on the player due to their characters level or profession, and the game often will not tell you when this happens. Due to this, the learning curve can be very steep.

- Numerous annoying bugs such as carts without drivers moving on their own and pathfinding errors bunching units together. Also, I had the problem that the gametime advanced four years with each season change. Finally had a CTD but only after installing a MOD that was meant to correct some of the bugs and problems in the game, so that was my own doing, probably.

- VISTA USERS BEWARE! The game has enormous problems installing on Vista. I have two systems and am only able to run the game on my older XP running system. The official forms are full of 'workarounds' for Vista install and running problems but these are mostly of the 'turn around three times and pray to the good fairy' type of workarounds that may or may not work for you. I never got it to install on my Vista system.

Final word: Really, Guild 2 is a fun game to play once you get into it, past the learning curve and annoying bugs (and have an XP system to run it on). Definatley pick this up once it hits the bargain tables and racks. It'll be definatley worth the slashed discount price.

5 - Good Expansion
This is a great expansion to Guild 2. It adds more optoins to what you can do in the game. Very fun to play with friends and the replayability is outstanding. It is a little buggy, but what new game isn't?
1 - Disappointed
I was anticipating an exciting game, but to my amazement the game failed my least expectations.
The game loads very slow, note I have a new computer with all the bells and whistles, and I was able to play the entire tutorial.
I was not impressed, as the controls to move the main character work poorly and ajusting your view also works poorly.
The real WHAM BAM came when wanting to play the game for real, well the game would not load up, except to show an advertisement, THEN my screen goes black. I have to soft boot my computer to get out.
This happened over and over again until I decided that it was time to remove the game from my computer. WARNING: DO NOT PURCHASE THIS GAME !!
